     Sacred Heart - Our Lady of Pompeii Parish

    • Reverend Christopher William Monturo is a priest of the Archdiocese of New York and has served as Pastor of Sacred Heart - Our Lady of Pompeii Parish in Dobbs Ferry, New York since July 1, 2019. Previously he was pastor of St. Anthony of Padua Parish in West Harrison, New York for twelve years from 2007 to 2019.  Father Monturo was born October 11, 1971 in Boca Raton, Florida to Carl F. and Kathleen G. Monturo, the second of four children.

      Father Monturo was ordained a priest on May 17, 2003 at Saint Patrick's Cathedral by Cardinal Edward Egan and was assigned to Saint Theresa of the Infant Jesus Parish in the Pelham Bay section of the Bronx fulfilling a calling to the priesthood which he recognized from the age of six.  In May 1994 Father Monturo graduated with honors from Iona College, New Rochelle, New York.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree (B.A.) from Iona College, a Bachelor of Sacred Theology Degree (S.T.B. - Cum Laude) from the University of Saint Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum, Rome, Italy) and a Master of Divinity Degree (M.Div. - Cum Laude) from Saint Joseph's Seminary and College, Dunwoodie, New York.  Following graduation from college he worked as a Funeral Director in both Atlanta, Georgia and New York City before entering the seminary system of the Archdiocese of New York.

      Father Monturo currently serves as Chaplain to the following organizations and departments: Westchester County Police Detective's Association, Harrison Police Department, Westchester County Police Benevolent Association, Dobbs Ferry Police Department, Dobbs Ferry Fire Department, West Harrison Fire Department, Purchase Fire Department, Westchester County Airport and the Westchester County Chapter of Legatus International.  Since January 2016 Father Monturo has hosted a weekly talk show on WVOX Radio in New Rochelle each Tuesday afternoon from 2-3pm with interesting and inspiring guests and topics. 

      Father Monturo serves on the Presbyteral Council of the Archdiocese of New York, as Chairman of the Southern Westchester Deanery and also as a representative of the Archdiocese of New York on the Priest Councils of the Province of New York. Additionally, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation and a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus.

      Outside of his ecclesiastical responsibilities, Father Monturo enjoys flying and aviation. He has traveled extensively throughout the world during his lifetime.  Father Monturo loves music of all kinds and has worked to make sacred liturgical music a focal point in each of the parishes where he has been assigned. Father Monturo is conversant in English, Spanish, Italian and Music which he has always recognized as a  "universal language" for its ability to  speak to every man, woman and child regardless of background or nationality.
       
      Father Monturo loves being a priest and pastor and serves his people with rare foresight and fidelity. He expresses deep gratitude to His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan for allowing him the privilege of ministering to the people of Sacred Heart - Our Lady of Pompeii Parish as their Pastor.
